As I’m sure you all have read, the Kaiser of Fashion, the iconic designer, Karl Lagerfeld passed away on Tuesday morning, February 19, 2019.
In the midst of all the sadness and mourning, the elephant in the room remains. The question everyone is thinking about, but no one wants to ask: who will be the next “king” of the fashion industry?
Let’s look at all the top 5 candidates we think could carry on Karl’s legacy:
This man was the creative director behind Dior from 2012 to 2015. He then moved to be the chief creative officer of Calvin Klein from 2016 to 2018. Who knows what 2019 holds for him?
This French designer is the creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton. Although he has been at Louis Vuitton since Marc Jacobs left in 2013, could this be his year of taking the spotlight?
He is the president and was the former chief creative officer of Burberry. However, it was announced in October 2017 that he would resign from the board in the next couple of years. Will he take this chance to make his mark on fashion?
He has worked for and with anyone who is anyone in fashion. He was the creative director for Dior and YSL. He’s dressed Daft Punk, Mick Jagger, Brad Pitt, you name it. He recently installed the new Celine concept store in N.Y.C., which was already a hit.
This man is destined to do big things this year. Not only has he collaborated with Kayne West and Nike, but he is also the founder of Off-White. He was recently named the artistic director for LV’s menswear ready-to-wear line.
Let’s just say we’re expecting some big things coming in fashion soon…
