The 411: All Things Blonde

November 6, 2019 by

Blonde is undoubtedly one of the most time-consuming hair colors because it requires constant upkeep. As a blonde who has been highlighting her hair for the better part of six years, I’ve learned a thing or two.

There is no shortage of blonde-specific products on the market that all promise to enhance your color and do away with brass. The unfortunate reality is that most of the products do nothing more than your standard shampoo or hair mist. Although, there are a few gems that work wonders. From my years of experimenting, I’ve compiled a list of must-have products for any blondie.

Shampoo & Conditioner

When it comes to purple shampoo and conditioner I’ve tried everything, from drugstore to luxury and everything in between, but the best has to be Kevin Murphy’s Blonde Angel Wash ($32) + Rinse ($34). This stuff is pure magic! It works to tone your color and after one use you will be able to see a difference in your hair. A major plus is its natural ingredient list that is sulfate, paraben, and cruelty free! Here’s a pro-tip: wait one month after you get your hair done until you crack open the purple products. Using these products too soon after your salon visit counteracts with the toner your hairdresser uses, resulting in a dull shade of blonde. After a month, start using the duo once a week in place of your regular shampoo and conditioner and you will be able to kiss your brassiness bye-bye.

If your hair is in need of some T.L.C. then treat yourself to the Oribe Bright Blonde Radiance Repair and Treatment ($58). This luxurious product nourishes and helps correct damage, while enhancing your color and increasing shine. Who doesn’t love a win-win? Use it once a week (or twice, depending on the state of your hair) in place of conditioner.

If you’re looking to add a little sparkle to your life then the Kevin Murphy Shimmer Me Blonde Spray ($34) is it! A few spritze on styled ends and your hair will have Blake Lively level shine!

Dry Shampoo:

The best dry-shampoo I’ve found is Aveda’s Shampure ($31)  which comes in a squeezable tube rather than an aerosol can so it is much better for the environment! The white-ish color of this product gives blondes a handy root-cover up while creating fabulous second (or third) day hair!
