Stuck Here for the Long Weekend?

April 2, 2015 by

If you are, here’s a few activities to make you feel not so stuck and more on the lucky side….

1) Deep Ellum Arts Festival: This 3-day festival (Friday thru Sunday) is featuring more than 200 decorative and visual artists selling and commissioning original works, local food vendors, and over 100 musical performances. On Sunday, there will be a pet parade with a costume contest. All three days of the festival is free to attend!

2) Picnic in the Park: Head over to Klyde Warren Park and munch on meals provided by food trucks or pack your own picnic and head over to White Rock Lake for a relaxing day in the sun.

3) Go to a drive-in movie: Although it may be a slightly longer trek that you would usually make to see a movie, turn your average movie outing into an adventure by heading to one of the drive-in movie theaters (Galaxy Drive-In and Coyote Drive-In are the closest).

4) Easter at the Arboretum: Spend the day at the Dallas Arboretum to view all of the flowers in bloom, including over 500,000 tulips, and Easter themed activities.

5) Spend the Day at The Foundry: Soak up the sun outside at The Foundry enjoying drinks and live music, into the night’s end. Added bonus, eat up on neighboring’ Chicken Scratch’s killer fried chicken.

6) Roadtrip to Marfa: If you’re up for an adventure, take the long drive with your friends and explore Marfa. Check out the town’s booming art scene and tons of funky hotels to camp out in.

7) Take a Brewery Tour: Several breweries (Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Lakewood Brewing Company, Peticolas Brewing Company, Four Corners Brewing, Community Beer Company… to name a few) are offering tours this weekend featuring live music, food trucks, and of course, lots and lots of beer.

8) Eat some Easter Sweets: Chow down on all your favorite Easter sweets, including Emporium Pie‘s special carrot cake pie only available on Friday and Saturday!

9) Pool Hop: One of my favorite activities to do in Dallas is exploring the different hotels and their pools…. Nothing sounds better than laying by the pool with a good book and a good drink…..*fingers crossed the weather stays nice*
