For those of you who survived freshmen year, welcome back! And for those of you who are freshmen…keep reading because this is your official guide of everything you need to know to get through your first year at SMU.
College is your home away from home – so, I’ve come up with a list of essential places to help all freshmen get acquainted with their new city.
HAIR
THE spot to get your hair done is DryBar in Northpark. From blow outs to curls, anything you want before any formal occasion – they have it covered. Book in advance or risk remaining a train wreck at Monmouth.
For other hair needs, the best salons to go to are Osgood O’Neil and Avalon Salon. These salons are for those looking for more than a blowout.
SHOPPING
As college students we have sufficient funds to go shopping (lies). But if you’re like me and pretend as though you do, the best place to blow the bank is Northpark Mall. Think of any store you love shopping at and it’s there. Honestly.
NAILS
Girls love a mani pedi, and the most popular place to go is Castle Nails. It’s a hop and a skip across the expressway in Mockingbird Station. WARNING: terrible parking. However, their service is fantastic. If you’re a social butterfly, this is the place to be – you’re sure to see everyone you know.
Mini Luxe is popping around everywhere throughout the city. It’s clean, chic and fast. Book an appointment online to avoid the wait.
FOOD
A boulevard MUST is brunch. Bottomless mimosas and a fat plate of pancakes are the ideal start to a long (and sweaty) day. The best and most delicious places to get a reservation are Villa-O and Henry’s Majestic. Villa-O makes a killer eggs benny and they have the best penne alla vodka. Henry’s Majestic has a full build-your-own mimosa bar complete with fresh berries and a variety of juices.
While this list doesn’t even begin to explain all the amazing things Dallas has to offer, it does cover the essential basics. Get ready for the most exciting year, Freshmen!
xoxo, Chase
