Paris Fashion Week Flashback

September 23, 2016 by

Bonjour mes amis!

In preparation for the upcoming Paris Spring 2017 fashion week, I thought I’d take you all on a little trip down memory lane with me as I describe my experience living in Paris during the Fall 2016 fashion week last spring. Excuse me if I shed a few tears, post abroad depression is real.

The feeling you have in Paris is special every week, every day and every minute, however; there’s just something about fashion week that lit up the city like I had never seen before. In the dead of winter, the sun was actually shining, the birds were singing, and the trees might as well have been blooming because I was on cloud nine.

As I shamelessly stalked the shows, I was surrounded by the most fabulous people I had ever witnessed in my entire life. I even went as far as skipping class to walk by celebrity hotspot restaurant, L’Avenue searching for celebrities and fashion icons. And when I say walk by, I mean not so casually stroll by at least 10 times while “nonchalantly” scanning the patio and peering through the windows. My friend who interned for Dior while we were in Paris (casual), saw Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian there the day before. Sadly, I wasn’t quite as lucky and people were definitely starting to get creeped out by me. Spotty wifi seemed to always leave me one step behind Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner (tears).

Although every fashion week show was amazing, the main event for me, was the second to last day. As I got off the metro at the Grand Palais, I walked straight into a massive crowd waiting in anticipation for, who else, but Chanel.

I was so enthralled by the atmosphere, I didn’t even care that I felt completely underdressed in my turtleneck sweater, midi leather skirt, tights and platform booties. Since I was already feeling like a complete poser, I decided to embrace my role and use my spotty French to act as a member of the paparazzi. The environment was electric, the socialites were captivating and all I could think was, one day…

Before I start completely gushing, take a peak at all of the amazing people I got to see.

First lets start with the people I actually recognized.

Anna Dello Russo, Editor of Vogue Japan – the hat, the shoes and everything in between…ultimate Chanel look.

Model, Brad Kroenig, and son, Hudson Kroenig aka godson of Karl Lagerfeld (designer for Chanel). The 7-year-old is already a model himself and holds hands with Lagerfeld when he walks on the runway at the end of every show…goals.

The models leaving the back of the show.

Now for the fabulous people who are probably famous in one country or another. Forgive me if you recognize someone that I did not.

Naturally, selfies on selfies everywhere.

Because the eight different geotags were worth turning on my very limited data for. Outfit by Zara.

May or may not have a future as paparazzi.

If you looked closely, Chanel details were everywhere.

Chanel ribbon choker

Chanel purses…everywhere. Must’ve forgotten mine at home….

Chanel Number 5 purse and classic Chanel tweed outfit.

Terrible quality, I know but, if you look closely, even her socks had the Chanel C’s on the back!

Last but not least, there are definitely some interesting characters that come out during PFW.

These twins in head-to-toe matching outfits.

This little man telling war stories with his little pup.

And this poser, smiling like a fool, trying to act as cool as everyone around her, aka me.

We watched all of these people go into the show and come out in about 15 minutes. Try as I might, I didn’t see Gigi, Kendall or Karl. However, during a family vacation four years prior, I did see Karl casually walking the Paris streets; so I guess no one can be that lucky twice.

Since I was on the greatest high of my life, my friends and I decided to skip class and get a glass of wine at the oh-so fitting Cafe Mode (Fashion Cafe).

And just like that, the greatest day of my life was over. But that’s okay because one day, I’ll be getting that double ‘C’ invitation.

Hey, a girl can dream.

Au Revoir

avec amour,
