Who would have thought to use bandanas to make shirts and bucket hats? I would have never! Freshman, Atenas Sofia has become a successful small business by building a brand with her bandana items. Perfect for any occasion, but especially game days! Paliak by Ate has it all!
Atenas is from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and has just begun her first semester at SMU. She first began her business in May when she found too much time on her hands and wanted to get creative.

“I decided to pursue my forever dream of pursuing my own brand. The first shirt I ever made was actually in 2018 when I wanted to make something fun and different for my trip to Las Vegas. I had received so many compliments that trip so when I found too much time on my hands I knew I had to make more of these shirts!”
Atenas launched her brand head-on and started an Instagram page the same day. Instagram has been a way for her to reach all audiences and share the newest pieces.

Paliak By Ate is a fun and colorful brand that interests many, which is how her brand has become so successful.

” I think my brand is unique and fun not only for the vibrant colors of the fabric but I think the aesthetic of the bandanas brings back an old school style that attracts many costumers.”
Atenas has been able to expand her brand quickly and efficiently by using the best form of advertising – word of mouth, and promoting her instagram page. Her variety of pieces allows for the customers to express their personalities by using different color combinations!
