It’s already way cool Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin is in your psychology class…
The gymnast turned celebrity turned SMU student has had a whirl wind of a life since she won the all around gymnastics title in Beijing last summer. From appearances on Oprah and Gossip Girl, to gracing the pages of People and Us Weekly – the girl is definitely soaking up the spotlight. At New York Fashion Week, Nastia sat front row at big shows like Peter Som and Isaac Mizrahi. While getting her fashion fix at Max Azria’s show Nastia was spotted and landed a contract for the line’s 2009 spring/ summer ad campaign. Nastia clearly has an affinity for fashion, as she is also in the works to collaborate on a denim line and leotards (very fitting).
It’s that time of year again – and no I’m not talking about Christmas. It’s Spring, the season where everyone seems to be either walking down the aisle or getting their diploma. Gift giving for these occasions is always troublesome, and the fact that most of us are broke really adds to the dilemma. But, recently my present problem was solved as a friend introduced me to her friend’s brand new stationary biz.
The friend of a friend is Hanna Brooks and her absolutely adorable stationary is “Gadabout” – my new favorite word.
gad⋅a⋅bout [gad-uh-bout] An aimless pleasure seeker; A traveler in search of enjoyment and amusement; One who roams or roves for social activity.
Each card is completely hand illustrated and Brooks even does custom designs. Give Gadabout, for something personal, chic and unique!
H.D.’s Clothing Company on Greenville is having a shopping extravaganza this weekend. Checkout what owners Harry and Vicki DeMarco just picked up from Paris all while sipping champagne! Ooohh la la!

Psst! Here’s the secret to snagging some goodies from the new Nordstrom Rack — without losing your mind in the process.
-Be patient. You’ll have to sift through racks and weave between other eager shoppers.
-Plan ahead. The dressing room always has a line, and if you go on a weekend you’ll most likely spend some time finding a parking spot.
-Keep an eye out. Like its counterparts Saks Off 5th and Neiman Marcus Last Call, there are some super steals from hip designers just waiting for you to take home and cherish.
Top three reasons to run to the Rack:
1. Rich & Skinny boyfriend jeans: These babies are going fast, so be speedy and get your hands a pair of Spring’s hottest denim. If Rich & Skinny isn’t your style, opt for Seven For All Mankind, Joe’s, Citizens of Humanity, Earnest Sewn, or AG by Adrianno Goldschmeid.
2. Accessories: From flats to sandals and pumps to purses, these are timeless items that will never go out of style. Other great accessories include Juicy Couture sunglasses, Michael Kors bags and Pashmina scarves.
3. Shoes: (Because we might have a fetish) Your tootsies will look trendy in Sam Edelman, Dolce Vita, Havaianas, Reef, Via Spiga, Ed Hardy, Nike, Lacoste … the list is endless!
Your friends will envy all your fashion finds; and they’ll be even more jealous that you paid only half the price.
Nordstrom Rack is located on North Central Expressway east of 75 across from NorthPark Center
If you haven’t already noticed, green is the new black, which means Earth Day is the new Christmas — well, not quite, but it’s getting there!
How we’ll be celebrating our love for the planet? A bevy of VIP and (sparkling green) events at Mockingbird Station on Wednesday.
Here’s the scoop…
Shop the street: Retailers at Mockingbird Station will be moving their eco-friendly and locally made products from inside to out for a fashionable sidewalk sale.
P is for PURE: Society Stylist and PURE Dental are teaming up to host a VIP launch party benefiting The Ultimate Exchange. Sips and bites will be served. You’re invited so RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and stop by tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Fashion Frenzy: Movida Boutique is hosting an in-store fashion show benefiting For Love of the Lake, a volunteer organization working to preserve the beauty of White Rock Lake. The show is tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. See you at the catwalk!
There are officially six days until Earth Day (April 22)! I’ve been trying — in my own little ways — to go green, so I’ve gathered a few tips that will ease your shopping bug and show a little love to Mother Nature.
Tote Trendy: If the 99 cent reusable shopping bags from Whole Foods aren’t trendy enough for you, check out Dogeard‘s Natural Tote Bags. Dogeared features a Green Patch on its Website chock full of other earth-friendly fare.
Soap Safely: One of the easiest ways to get on a going green kick is to start using eco-friendly dish soap. Mrs. Myer’s rocks because not only are the products aromatherapeutic but they’re also biodegradable and environmentally friendly. (Hint: that means it keeps our water run-off a bit cleaner) Just a tip: The lavender scented products will have you washing dishes all night.
Clothe Greenly: American Apparel has a Sustainable Edition line. We’re talking all your basic cotton necessities (White T-shirts, undies etc.) made from completely organic cotton. The benefits of organic cotton are endless. Safer for us, safer of our environment and safer for animals. Sounds pretty win-win to me.

Here’s to adding a little glitz to the top of your noggin. Just call it a make-shift tiara so you can be the princess you know you are.
Lyte Accessories, owned and designed by Los Angeles-based Molly Rhymer, is the perfect answer to the headband rage hitting the ever-fabulous, wannabe Blair Waldorfs out there.
The studded, feathered, bejeweled and beaded hair accessories put a whimsical twist on the traditional headband. I’m imagining they’ll turn any basic outfit from dull to rockin’ instantly. These headbands may take a boost of confidence to pull off but I’m sure topping your head with one of Lyte’s crowns will turn you from shy girl to trendy “it” girl in seconds.
Get ordering and give the Gossip Girls a run for their headband money.
Check out the Lyte Website for looks and be among the first to bring a growing L.A. trend to Dallas.
At the first hint of sunshine and warm weather, summer fever hits! That’s why I am obsessed with the newest beauty products from Sephora. All of a sudden everything is baked, bronze, and promising to give you a St. Tropez-worthy glow.
Current obsession: Urban Decay Get Baked Kit ($28), a limited-edition palette in a brown Pucci-inspired case of 3 bronze and golden eyeshadows, a pop of teal shadow, a mini eyeliner, and a champagne-colored version of their famous Primer Potion that works solo or under eyeshadow. The palette is perfect for on-the-go glam and is just the thing to get you in the mood for some summer fun!
Also on my radar: NARS Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo in Orgasm/Laguna ($37). The double-duty compact comes with NARS famous, universally-flattering blush that gives you that perfect golden flush, along with a complimentary bronzer with just the right amount of shimmer.
Now if only I could book that trip to St. Tropez!
