Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021

December 31, 2020 by

2020 was a year you may not want to remember, but a year you will never forget. To say 2020 was a whirlwind would be an understatement ~ a global pandemic, a monumental election, a racial awakening, and so much more.

This year, New Year’s, like all 2020 holidays, will look a little different. Rather than going out for a wild night on the town with your best friends, you may be staying in, playing games, and having a glass of champagne with your family. But, just because 2020 has an unusual ending, doesn’t mean 2021 has to have a pessimistic beginning. 2021 is a fresh start, so let’s kick it off strong!

Let’s talk about New Year’s Resolutions. If anyone is like me, New Year’s resolutions freak me out! They have the tendency to loom over your, acting as a constant reminder of your alleged failure to reinvent yourself. But in all reality, resolutions should not be stressful. They are simply there to acknowledge things about your life you’d like to reshape. 2020 was a year full of anxiety, so the only 2021 resolutions you should make are stress-free. It’s important that this year, your resolution list is compiled with easy, good-for-you goals. Ditch the resolutions that require really big, extensive changes, and pay attention to making more small, incremental changes that enhance our well-being.

While 2020 was most definitely a rough year for everyone, there was good to come out of it too! We can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store! Here are the SMUStylist’s silver linings of 2020 and resolutions to start 2021 with a bang:
