Gilt City “Give To Get” Event at La Fiorentina

Brooke Hortenstine, PaperCity’s editor at large, has been chosen as the first Gilt City ”Insider” for Dallas. Brooke has curated two weeks of sales on Gilt featuring her favorite things in Dallas, such as dinner at the Mansion, blow-outs from Jeane-Philippe, stationary from Missing Q press, and more. The sales go live on December 7 and 12.

Join Gilt City for their holiday kickoff party for the sales on Tuesday, December 6 at La Fiorentina, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets for the event are $30 and include drinks, bites, and pop up shops from some of Brooke’s favorite stores. Bring an unwrapped toy donation for Children’s Medical Center and receive a Gilt City gift bag in return.

Alpha Chi Couture

SMU Alpha Chi Omega organization hosts the Alpha Chi Couture Event to benefit the Genesis Women’s Shelter. I’m amazed at the all work that went into this fabulous event held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Of course, having the help of fashion show producer and style-icon Jan Strimple doesn’t hurt either.

The event began with photo sessions on the red carpet and a fantastic silent auction. Kate Spade purses, David Yurman jewelry, and other wonderful items were up for grabs.

Then Jan Strimple, as master of ceremonies, led us through featured clothing from five trend-minded Highland Park Village stores: Anne Fontaine, Billy Reid, Scoop, Trina Turk, and Vince. SMU sorority and fraternity members, as well as Alpha Chi Omega alumnae from Dallas, modeled the latest styles from these chic boutiques. Jan Strimple said having a “pro-model-perfect show” was not their goal; the goal was “to celebrate this great shared effort and spirit that pulls together all these students, their families and friends to help others.”

Alpha Chi Omega is all about women helping women, and they have definitely committed to this motto. Over the past 5 years, they have raised over $100,000 for the Genesis Women’s Shelter. This year, they hope to raise more. As a freshman attending Alpha Chi Couture for the first time, I was so impressed with the scale of the event. It was so incredible. I have a feeling there is more excitement to come and look forward to Alpha Chi Couture 2012.

Last week, the “Who’s Who” of Dallas gathered at the Gossip Bar in the Hilton Anatole for the fabulous Bottles, Bling, and Blogs event. Equipped with five 60 inch flat screen TV’s streaming twitter live, Gossip Bar is a bloggers paradise. The event, hosted by some of Dallas’ elite social bloggers Cynthia Smoot from Oh So Cynthia, Lisa Petty from DFW Style Daily, Erica Nicole from Young, Fabulous, & Self-Employed, Meredith Darling, Raya-Gabrielle Ramsey, and Jarrod Fresquez quickly became the place to be via Twitter and the hashtag #GossipBar. Live music provided by Redbull and refreshing cocktails made with Deep Eddy’s Sweet Tea Vodka kept guests entertained all night long. Check out some of the photos from the event below.
