Candle Alternatives for On-Campus Living

September 18, 2018 by

If you have ever lived in a dorm or a sorority house, then you know the frustration of being unable to light your favorite candle in a stress-free manner.

It truly is a bummer that these delicious smelling wax commodities are a fire hazard, but alas, they are. That is why I would like to offer up some candle alternatives to ensure that you secure your twinkle and your scent, in a legal and community-friendly fashion.

Secure That Twinkle

1. Fairy Lights

Hanging up fairy lights around a dorm or sorority room is an excellent way to make a room feel cozy and warm while adding some additional pizzaz.

2. Electric candles

Placing electric candles around a dorm room creates a peaceful and attractive ambiance without introducing a fire hazard.

Secure Your Scent

1. Classic diffusers

I prefer Nest, but most major candle brands carry their popular scents in diffuser form. Diffusers are a great way to provide a constant yet subtle scent to a space, and they look great on a shelf!

2. Essential oil diffuser

Kick back and relax with an ultrasonic diffuser. These diffusers double as a humidifier, give off hours of relaxing scents, and emit calming colors.

Air fresheners and scented drawer liners are other great ways to keep a confined space smelling fresh and clean.

Over & Out,

Sarah Smith
