Be the Most SPOOKtacular Interior Designer

October 16, 2017 by

My oh my, the skeletons came out of the closet this week… literally.

If you’re a new homeowner (home-renter?) like me, then you’re also new to the wonderful and quite scary world of interior design. While fashion may be my first love, when it comes to finding the “perfect” couch or chairs that “go with the vibe,” I’m clueless, like Cher.

HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to indulge in the seasonal decor :))) Next to Christmas, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays (who doesn’t love the 13 Nights of Halloween????). Unfortunately, Halloween decor can sometimes be, dare I say, tacky, that is unless you do it RIGHT!

Who knows if I’m actually decorating for this holiday “RIGHT,” but in my eyes, it looks good. Steal some inspiration from your girl and go CRAZY this October.

For starters, nothing spices up a home or make it feel bright and beautiful like a fresh thing of flowers, while there are no “fall” flowers that are my cup of tea (besides sunflowers and mums), stick with some that represent the colors of fall ie yellows, reds and oranges. Flower arranging is not my expertise either, so this prearranged set I found at Tom Thumb made my day. The rose gold vase is from their too!!!

So much of the ish I got this year comes from Target, yes TARGET! You really have to weed through the horrible Halloween section of candy corn and stupid skeletons to find the good stuff.

Probably my favorite things I discovered in the land of Target were these VELVET PUMPKINS. Don’t judge them just yet. They were around $3 each and SO SO WORTH IT! I couldn’t be more excited about them!!!! Ps peep @Margaret’s artistic abilities.

I also found this skull that now resides on my living room coffee table. It has a hit of oxblood color and is so ~trendy~ and VERY AMcQ. My roommate, Anne Mason, said it freaked her out but I refuse to put it away. Let’s be real, it’s most definitely going to sit here all year long.

The BAR sign lights up (courtesy of Target, they’re on a ROLL) and those are real mini pumpkins I bought at Central Market. Those acorns we found outside. So in touch with nature.

I take back everything I said, WHO CARES if the decor is tacky. If you are into it then gosh darnit do it big. Please do me one favor though, avoid the inflatables.
