Balenciaga in Black brings over one hundred archived Balenciaga pieces to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. All of the stunning dresses and accessories featured share one common trait: they’re black.
Why black, you might ask? Cristobal Balenciaga sought inspiration from the and traditions of his native Spain, so the exhibit highlights the roots of the house of Balenciaga while showcasing the endless interpretations of black that were created by Balenciaga and his team. Balenciaga saw black as a vibrant and dynamic force, and Balenciaga in Black shows just how versatile the color can be.
The show features pieces from Palais Galliera in Paris and the Archives Balenciaga. I stopped by the Kimbell this weekend to peruse the designs, and it is a must-see!
