All pale, ghost-like tanorexics are still patiently awaiting the day when pale actually becomes the new tan, but until then, self-tanner must help them fake it till they make it!!!
I’m not going to lie, self-tanning can be extremely terrifying. It is every girl’s worst nightmare to look in the mirror and see this:
Horrifying, am I right?? Well, it’s time to face your biggest fear! Spring break is right around the corner!! I can’t guarantee that your sheets won’t have a little bit of an orange tint in the morning or that you won’t smell a little funky, but I do have some secrets on how to ditch the streakiness and flaunt a spring break pre-beach glow.
EXFOLIATE!! I seriously cannot stress this enough. Exfoliating is the key to an even, long-lasting self-tan. If you skip this step, your tan might take a turn for the worse…you could be streaky just like Ross! Here are some exfoliating tools that are perfect for self-tanning prep.
If you’ve done your fair share of self-tanning, then you will probably know what’s next…moisturize the problem areas! I’m sure most of you have showcased some patchy, orange hands, wrists, elbows, or ankles throughout your self-tanning endeavors. You have all of the permission in the world to partially blame dry skin for the spottiness, but luckily it is a very easy fix! Do yourself a favor and avoid splotchy areas by moisturizing the night BEFORE you self-tan.
Now comes the fun part…picking the right self-tanner! This may be the fun part, but that doesn’t mean it’s not complicated. AND you must be SO careful!! You have to face the challenge of deciding what shade and if you want a lotion, mousse, or spray. Personally, the St. Tropez Classic Bronzing Mousse is my go-to. Take my advice and make sure to use a mitt if you go the lotion or mousse route. It is a lifesaver!!!! The mitt makes the tan appear 100 times smoother and significantly decreases the likelihood of streakiness. If you feel like being brave and have some time to practice, I highly suggest giving the St. Tropez Bronzing Mist a chance. Supposedly it is exactly like getting a spray tan but at home! Here are a few other options, as well as some self-tanners for your face.
Go work on that spring break pre-beach glow!!!! But please, don’t turn into an Oompa Loompa!
