3 Steps to Having Long-Wear Makeup

February 20, 2020 by

Prep, Powder, and Set. Those are the three basic steps that ensure your makeup lasts all day (or all night). But if you’re extra like me and want your hard work to pay off, then I have a few tips that are guaranteed to work!

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Having a hydrated base is a significant step for ensuring that your makeup stays on.  I find that throughout the day my foundation gets patchy around the dryer areas of my face. My cheeks and jawline for example. If you apply moisturizer before your foundation, then your skin will look more natural and radiant.  Fenty always has the best primers for every different skin type. If your skin is drier I would recommend the Bobby Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. But if you don’t own a primer, moisturizer will do.

Step 2: Foundation

Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation is one of the best in the game. Its matte formula stays in place yet doesn’t make you look cakey. My favorite thing about this foundation is that it has a rich and buildable formula that looks great on every skin type. If you have dryer skin or want a subtle glow, I recommend adding some Cover FX Enhancer drops!

Step 3: Set your face

You don’t want all the effort you put into doing your makeup to go to waste. Setting your face is just as important as any other step. Using a setting powder doesn’t mean you’ll have to look matte. Even if you want a natural glow, you have to add some powder otherwise your makeup is going to slide off (Which defeats the purpose of a long-wear foundation).  Becca’s Hydra-Mist is specially made for a seamless and soft blur finish. After, setting powder it’s important to use a makeup setting spray. I like to mist my face and use a damp beauty blender to pat on my face afterward. This simple yet effective step makes your makeup sink into your skin, creating a more blended and natural finish.

Hope this is helpful!
